The University of Kansas Medical Center
The University of Kansas awarded MC Power Companies to design and build rooftop solar for Health Education Building and Landon Center on Aging. This design-build project included engineering, integration, construction, and monitoring of the rooftop solar for each building.
MC Power’s in-house engineering team provided the client with a complete stamped construction set detailing the complete design. The MC Power installation team worked with the client to install this system during normal operating hours without any business interruption. The solar array for the HEB building was 46.9kW and the array for the CHIA building was 54.1kW. The combined arrays consists of 306– 330W JA Solar modules. These modules are held in place by ballasted rooftop racking system specifically designed for each specific roof location and type. The energy harvested by the solar panels is converted by SMA Core inverters. Monitoring is provided in real time through SMA EnnexOS web-based software where production, fault detection, and email/text alerts, are all viewable from a web-based portal. The project, designed, engineered, and constructed by MC Power Companies was completed on-time and within budget.
